Reach Your Peak Hill Testing Ep.1 – Chris Peter’s
25th June 2021,
When delegates sign up for Reach Your Peak Scotland there is always a process to their preparation, it is important that our guides are working closely with the delegates to ensure they are on the right track with their training, nutrition and equipment etc.
Yesterday was the very first Hill attesting session for the delegates of RYP 5 this October!⛰💪🏽

Why do we use hill testing with the delegates?
It is a create way to create rapport with the delegates on a one to one basis, it is also crucial for us as guides to ensure the delegate is capable of taking on the endurance phase of the event, to ensure their fitness levels are at a high enough level. 🏃🏻♂️
We also want to ensure our delegates are comfortable on the hills, and that they are showing leadership skills. This is important as when it comes to the event itself we want to see the delegates taking control of situations and also checking on their fellow delegates when things are getting tougher. 👍🏼
Meet Chris Peter's, Chris has been coaching with Stevie Kidd for 3 months now and by the time he takes on Reach Your Peak Scotland he will have had 7 months worth of development under Stevie and the team. He then decided it was time to take on RYP to further his development and test himself.
When asked why Chris decided it was time to take on this event, his answer to me was "I really like the idea of stepping into the unknown, there is just something about it that excites me"

Chris Peters joined Ryan Kidd at Arrochar yesterday to tackle Beinn Ìme, Beinn Narnain, and The Cobbler! Chris was exceptional and although the weather wasn’t on our side he didn’t let this defeat him.
All three peaks completed and I believe Chris is continuing his training today with a 40 mile bike ride with his colleagues from Trackside Engineering Ltd 🚴🏴
